Shelter Medicine Workshop 2016

Colombia October 1-2, 2016

It is in AWWC’s mission to make welfare issues an everyday consideration for small animal
practitioners.  In that context we are delighted to follow up the success of our post-conference shelter medicine workshop in Thailand 2015 with a 2 day post-conference workshop in Cartagena, Colombia in 2016.
The main purpose of the workshop is to engage the regional community and stakeholders in public health, animal protection and animal welfare. We hope to engage WSAVA attendees, local veterinarians, educators  and animal practitioners on practical issues in animal protection and shelter medicine. This will be done through lectures, site-visit, discussions groups and group presentations.
The program will focus on:
-  Best practices and resources in shelter medicine  and animal welfare
-  Updates and discussions around animal protection and relevant laws
-  Motivate participants to look for signs of animal abuse and educate others about animal protection and welfare.
Participation: The workshop is limited to 30 participants, both local and international attendees are welcome to apply to register. Due to international participation and lecturers the workshop will be mainly in English.
Place: The workshop will be held at Corporación Universitaria Rafael Nuñez in Cartagena (CURN). A map and directions how to get there from the WSAVA World Congress Venue will be provided.
Time: 1st and 2nd of October 2016, from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM.
Social dinner on Saturday evening:
Registration fee: The registration fee includes lectures, meals, and transportation for the site visit.
